A brief history of youspots

YouSpots started in the middle of 2010 as a one man project. It all began with me looking around the web to find some new spots to ride my longboard. Unfortunately, though, there was nothing to be found! Nothing even slightly useful except a few pages for runners, bikers and other things I’m not really into. Since I’ve got a creative mind and a background as a programmer the hamster wheel in my brain started turning. I thought to myself there ought to be a webpage where people could share their spots and find new ones. Initially I thought about naming it FindaHill.com because my friends and I were looking for some nice downhill tracks but I soon realized that my original concept was not enough to keep users satisfied, so I reworked it to fit a wider and brighter audience. I included more categories like Snowboarding, Skiing, Biking, and ultimately all popular, urban and extreme sports I could think of as well as adding features such as a user rating system and a forum!
After 4 months of hard work I decided to call the project YouSpots.com. There’s a few reasons for this. I’m a huge fan of YouTube and watch many longboard/snowboarding videos. So I thought to myself, “These spots are sick! I’d love to know where they are and ride ‘em myself.” This in mind, I included a “fast link” feature to YouSpots.com so people could easily insert a short YouSpots.com link (I.E: www.YouSpots.com/?mapid=123 ) to their video description. YouSpots.com is dedicated to YouTube and those users who love their sport and want to share their experiences.

What to do on youspots?
YouSpots is a platform for everybody longing for new and exciting spots, runs and locations to practice their sport. It offers a wide variety of opportunities for athletes of urban and “extreme” sports such as kiting, surfing, long/skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, and every other activity that you can imagine. But most importantly it builds on its community to provide this. From sharing spots, rating them and exchanging stories and experiences to meeting new people to ride with or simply talking about anything you like with like-minded people in the forum; on YouSpots.com I want you to find what you are looking for!
